Piaggio Zip 2 or 4 stroke?

Postby matybrown » Mon Jan 23, 2012 3:32 pm

Hi All,

I am looking for a new scooter and really like the look of the Piaggio Zip's. Does anyone have any advice on these?

There is an unridden 2008 model I have seen for sale which is 4 stroke but the new models seem to be 2 stroke. Any advice regarding 2 stroke vs 4?

I could save a little bit of money buying the 2008 model, but want to know if I would be better of with a new 2012 model.

Honda is the way to go if your looking for reliabillity and power
Polini Corsa 72cc
Malossi full circle crank
Rare Scorpionpipe
CT intake 24mm oko
Disk brake swap
Top speed 115kmh(so far)
still needs lots of tuning

I'm currently riding a new 2-Stroke 50, have been for about a month now. I'd recommend it although I don't have much to compare with.

Everything I read before buying said at 50cc 4 stroke engines simply don't develop enough power. Even my 2-Stroke isn't going to turn heads coming off the lights, 50cc scooters are what they are right?

Still as far as reliable, safe, cheap transport to work goes the Piaggio Zip 50 T-2 is great. It also has the ability to put a smile on your face going around the Wellington waterfront on a sunny day.

No. Straight answer the price being asked is to much even for a restore project one.
Wish I could source one at a low price.
