hi all been a while since iv been on here, any way
i have a sj50 qt with weak spark i mean i can hold the plug and kick it over with only minimal pain i have checked the coil and plug, my main concern is would this be a issue with the cdi, i have a bad feeling they are difficult to get and costly,
I will do some research on them but thought save the headache and ask u guys first. does it need a super strong spark?

1. so thought id start here, if my cdi was busted will i get a weak spark or none at all, was thinking if it was dead it wouldn't let any spark through?

2. and also i have had a look at the wire diagram but cant seem to find what i need,in my rush to get the head of to get heli coiled i took some wiring off i now have a single ground wire ( 400mm long) with a bolt hole connection at each on my bench (stupid i know) and cant remeber where it went.
Embarassed if any one knows where this goes. might help the situation.
cheers in advance.
adrian.

sounds like your HT lead or coil. The CDI doesn't really wear out. The alternator can also not be producing enough power for the CDI. It should supply about 150 volts to the CDI.

thanks, i checked the ht lead with my multi meter and it doesn't have a circuit, but is sending a small spark through to the plug wich is what i originally tested for. WEIRD i know.Cheers for the heads up on the cdi. The "150 volts" will i get that while kick starting it over?. I checked the compression again and was only getting 75-80 psi,so now have decided to do get new piston and rings and gasket set, checked the cylinder and its fine ,cleaned everything up.will be going into scootling in the next few weeks to get my gear. Then hopefully everything else is OK i can get her fired up.

Cheers Honda
