Preventing thefts

Postby Attack » Thu Dec 16, 2010 8:39 pm

I'm going to be moving to Auckland next year and bringing my scooter with me. Everyone seems to be giving Auckland a bad name when it come to scooter thefts, especially around the university.

Are there any tips on how to preventing thefts?
Any fancy gizmo's or gadgets around?

Bolt it to a post. The thief will go to the next scoot.

Don't clean your scooter; super shiny and new looking scoots will go first.

There are scooter/motorbike alarms available from various retailers (Jaycar used to sell them) complete with motion detectors, immobilizers and gps tracking; Otherwise, visual deterants like large chains, flashing LED's and "this scoot is alarmed" stickers work too.
Failing that, chaining a Pit Bull to your scoot may be a good option! :)
