Andreas visits Taiwan - with pics

Postby avai007 » Sat Jun 27, 2009 10:28 pm

Check out the videos I've taken in Taiwan. Taiwan is a relatively small island (smaller than NZ's North Island) but with a much bigger population, also with the highest rate of scooter ownership in the world. Even knowing what to expect, I was amazed at how many scooters there are here.

Pics from Taipei, Taiwan

More scooters! I stopped off in Hong Kong too so some pics are from there

Now you don't have an excuse to burn off any of the calories by walking to pick up your Maccas...

This is a rare beast, the Honda ruckus (PS250). Next to it in the white is a Honda Elite 250.

A couple of PX Vespas in Hong Kong. The second one belonged to a car workshop, and they used it to collect stuff for the workshop etc.

Yamaha Majesty - not sure what the theme is here, but I'd like to see his living room...

(Customer) Ah, hello...?
(Shopkeep) Yes, how can I help?
(CS) Well, I'd really like a scooter.
(SK) Great, you've come to the right..
(CS) Sorry to interrupt, I forgot to mention the couple of things it needs to do.
(SK) I'm sure we can help you with what you require
(CS) Well I don't like the 2 wheeled thing, I need one with more than that
(SK) You mean a car?
(CS) No, I want a scooter.
(SK) I see... ah did you say there were a couple of things?
(CS) Yes, I don't want it to lean
(SK) Are you sure you don't want a car?
(CS) No. Are you going to sell me one or not?
(SK) Yes, ma'am. Can you give us a week, I'll need to go and see my uncle. He's in wheelbarrows.
(CS) What?
(SK) A week please ma'am.

As soon as I managed to land that hot air balloon, I took some photos on terra firma:

The land of the scoot, second only to Vietnam?
Great vids thanks
I liked the training wheels there is a vid of a large bike with the same thing on youtube, kind of adds as much street cred as "turbo stickers" on a moped!!

Taiwan actually has the highest ownership of scooters per capita in the world. Literally everyone I asked owned one.

I did get a few bits and pieces while there, they'll be added to the online shop in due course :)
